By Isabela Moise (Product Manager, Aequilibrium)
Last week in Brussels, at the inaugural UnitedXR Europe, I experienced an industry that has finally come of age. As event founder Ori Inbar declared, the core message is clear: “AI loves XR.”
This synergy is finally good enough to change everything, pushing the technology mainstream. The momentum is building fast, from real enterprise adoption to creators pushing boundaries, and Aequilibrium (AEQ) is proud to be a builder at the heart of this transformation, proving exactly how AI and XR merge to deliver results.
Our mighty team of Adrian (our CEO) Florentina (CFO), Riley (VR Software Engineer) and I were there representing AEQ at Booth 214. The incredible energy and non-stop introductions were fueled by our fantastic team who ensured our demos ran flawlessly, while providing both support and incredible energy. Everyone was instrumental in championing us through three intense days!
Together, we championed AEQ as the Canadian innovation and transformation partner for innovative learning & development (L&D) in domains like healthcare, academia/education and financial services. Throughout the event, we aimed to learn as much as we could about the L&D needs of our enterprise partners across industries, and identify how our VR+AI Training could be the solution.
My personal takeaway remains firm: the future of learning belongs to solutions that deliver scale, integration, and measurable human performance across the Psychomotor, Emotional, and Cognitive domains.
Day 1 & 2: Connecting with Top Buyers and Canadian Momentum
The conference floor had a distinct, execution-focused energy. I felt immense pride in our Canadian representation. We were honoured to connect with Pieter Embo, the Canadian Trade Commissioner for Digital Industries & Defence Technology. Beyond validating the strong transatlantic interest in our work, Pieter was instrumental in introducing us to a number of potential partners and key members of the tech, VR, and academic communities in and near Belgium.
It was also fantastic to connect with the team at Cognitive3D, who is working with us on the exciting VR4Health project. Such a pleasure to engage with CEO Tony Bevilacqua, Rodolfo Montero and Colin Sandeman-Allen. My gratitude also goes out to Daler Aliberdiev, who was vital in supporting the AEQ team with PR, marketing, content production, and business development across Europe.
A highlight of these days was our inclusion in the exclusive Enterprise/Buyer Tours (Manufacturing, Healthcare, and Life Sciences). Being featured on the tours, guided by leaders like Jan Pflueger and Mark Sage, allowed us to pitch our solutions directly to high-value end-users. This confirmed that AEQ is a vetted, high-value solution ready to integrate at scale. The consistent message I heard:
ROI comes not from the number of headsets, but from the reproducibility of content that makes training a living, scalable asset.
Dec 10 | My Reflection on the Presentation
Day three culminated in our speaker session, following two more critical Enterprise/Buyer Tours for Training & Education and AI & XR Enablement.
Our session, “Using XR & AI to Personalize Immersive Education & Enterprise Training at Scale,” which Adrian and I delivered, was truly a high point. It was thrilling to share our work on ClasseXR, our co-developed platform with the University of Ottawa. I wanted to thank Professor Mirela Moldoveanu for her time and input on the presentation. While it would have been lovely to have her speaking with us in-person, plans changed last-minute due to flight delay issues, however her well-wishes were greatly appreciated!
We detailed:
- The Problem: The growing competence gap and the failures of one-size-fits-all training.
- The Demo: I narrated a recorded play-through of ClasseXR, showcasing the immersive experience in a classroom management scenario.
- The Architecture: Adrian detailed how we architected the platform to gather deep behavioral metrics for personalized, adaptive learning.
My Key Takeaway:
In the Q&A, we explained that the AI’s magic is its ability to consistently adapt to the user’s weaknesses to focus on their unique areas of improvement in the next trial. I was also proud to draw the parallel to student teaching placements, explaining how our tool acts as a critical onboarding tool to ensure future educators are better prepared for real-world interactions before they even step into a supervised placement.
Tailored Solutions: VR + AI for Key Enterprise Verticals
My conversations on the tour confirmed that every sector needs a custom solution. Our platform is uniquely positioned to solve critical workforce challenges by using VR for realistic simulations and AI for personalized training experiences and feedback.
Vertical | Core Problem Solved | Key Outcome / Value |
Education/Academia | Critical competence gap between theory and practice. | Accelerated skill proficiency and real-world readiness for students. |
Healthcare | Deepening skill shortages and inability to safely prepare staff. | Safer and higher-quality patient treatment by relieving pressure on clinical training. |
Industry/Manufacturing | High-risk scenarios using high-fidelity digital twins that are Dangerous, Impossible, Counterproductive, or Expensive to train for (DICE Framework). | Reduced training costs and trackable proof of learning to meet compliance. |
Finance/Soft Skills | Rising errors-based costs, staff churn, and pressure for exceptional service. | Proven 73% increase in confidence and 82% improvement in retention in a pilot. |
Next Steps: The Work Ahead & Connecting with Us
Leaving Brussels, I feel an incredible sense of momentum and pride. AEQ is operating at the forefront of this movement where “AI Loves XR”, recognized not just for innovation, but for being a reliable partner across industries. I am really looking forward to maintaining this momentum throughout the rest of the year, taking back the learnings to my technology team, and further developing the relationship with enterprises to enhance their training with XR+AI.
There is so much potential even in the New Year, including launching the global VR4Health project under ITEA (a Eureka Cluster) to build interoperable learning modules to transform healthcare training through XR +AI. I am so excited to officially get started with our partners worldwide: spanning across Canada, Portugal, Slovenia, and Türkiye, with the vision to improve knowledge retention by 80% and reduce training costs by 70%.
